It's okay... everyone needs a little help sometimes

Don’t worry, we won’t tell your spouse that you came to look for help. If they ask, we’ll tell them that you actually helped us with a few issues we had and now we are a better company because of it.

Safety First:

Your safety is our top priority. If you have any concerns about firearm usage, storage, or handling, our team is here to provide guidance and ensure that you have the information needed to use your firearm responsibly. For all of the nitty gritty information, please look through our Shotgun Manuals. But here are some quick facts and policies that can hopefully answer your questions.

Breaking in your new shotgun:

All new gas operated shotguns require rounds down range to cycle properly, this includes Wimberly Arms. The reason for this break in is to allow the bolt spring to set in place and form its memory. If you follow our break in process your shotgun will cycle all 1-1/8 oz 3-dram equivalent loads and most 1 oz loads. Anything over 1-1/8 oz 3-dram equivalent will function with your shotgun out of the box.

  1. Clean your new shotgun thoroughly. Sometimes new guns come from the factory with an excess amount of oil to avoid rusting while waiting for their new home. We recommend lightly oiling the bolt rails after cleaning.
  2. Your first 100 shots through your new shotgun need to be with minimum of 1-¼ oz, 3-¼ dram equivalent or greater loads, shot size does not matter. After this break in, you should be able to begin shooting lighter 1-1/8 oz loads.
  3. After your first 500 rounds, we recommend a full breakdown and clean. After this break in clean, we recommend oiling heavy friction spots as needed and a light field clean every 500 rounds with a full deep clean every 1000 rounds or once yearly. Always store with a light coat of oil to prevent rust on wear surfaces.
Maintenance and Cleaning:

Caution: Make sure the gun is unloaded.

1. Make sure that the broad, polished, finely fitted mating surfaces of the breech block and receiver are especially dean and lightly oiled with a high quallty gun oil. Do not use pure silicone or lanolin.

2. Run an oil patch through the bore with a cleaning rod starting from the breech end. To prevent leading, use a cleaning solvent and brass brush to clean the bore periodical. Follow this cleaning with one or two clean oil patches.

Important: If your gun is equipped with choke tubes, do not use a brass brush to clean the barrels unless a choke tube is installed in each barrel. Barrels that utilize choke tubes must also have the choke tubes removed to clean and oil the threads inside the barrel and the choke tubes themselves. This will protect the threads from being damaged by cleaning tools and also prevent a dirt build up that would cause the choke tube to become difficult to remove from the barrel. Damage can result to choke tubes and barrel when attempting to remove sticky choke tubes. Never fire your gun without choke tubes snuggly tightened in barrels. Do not over tighten choke tubes. Wipe all exposed metal surfaces with an oiled cloth before storing . Do not squirt or pour oil into the inside mechanism because it may hamper proper functioning and will soak into the wood. After extended periods of heavy use, your gun should be taken to a qualified gunsmith to have the action disassembled for professional cleaning and lubrication.

3. Care for your wood stock and forearm the same way you would a piece of furniture with the same finish.

STORAGE

Clean thoroughly and oil your gun before storage. Store the gun in a case to prevent scratches and dents. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion. Store the gun away from children and in place where it cannot be obtained by those unauthorized to use it. Always store your gun unloaded and separate from any ammunition.
