When designing the Ultralight 105, we wanted a lightweight field gun that is built for durability and real, everyday use. During the design process, the Tungsten coloring drew all the people who walked into our warehouse to pick it up and every single person commented about the balance and lightness of the gun – if you don’t believe us, go to your local dealer or come to our warehouse and pick it up. We chose a high grade of 7000 series aluminum for the frame with steel inserts at the wear points for increased wear resistance. Although 6000 series aluminum is cheaper and easier to work with, 7000 series is 46% stronger and 37% harder – in case you missed it, that means better. These strength and hardness figures are achieved without adding any weight. In full honestly, 7000 series is a little less corrosion resistant which is why we apply a cerakote to the entire frame. Let’s recap – Ultralight 105 is lighter, stronger, harder, and frankly better than other “lightweight” shotguns on the market. We don’t have a fancy percentage for the “better” claim but we guess it is 100%
